Meet Dr. Waji Khan, BSc, DDS, MBA, MEd

Dental Surgeon & CEO Cataraqui Woods Healthcare Services


Dr. Khan grew up in Scarborough, Ontario. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Toronto, Trinity College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science with High Distinction in 1997.  He then attended The University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry and graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2001.  Dr. Khan served as a dental officer in the Canadian Forces from 1998-2007.  Dr. Khan began practicing dentistry in Halifax, Nova Scotia with the Canadian Forces.  In the CF he learned a lot through mentorship with dental specialists and advanced dental training courses.  After a ten year career in the Canadian Forces, he then moved to Kingston with his wife and life partner Dr. Sohela Vaid in 2007 to pursue studies in Medicine and practice Dentistry. 

He is a current and past member of; both the Canadian and Ontario Dental Associations, the Canadian and Ontario Medical Associations, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Nova Scotia Dental Association, the Kingston and District Dental Society, the Halifax County Dental Society, Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity, United States Army Medical Department Regiment, American Dental Education Association, Nova Scotia Medical Legal Society, Nova Scotia Oral Medicine Study Club.

Dr. Khan is proud to have founded the Khan Foundation for Children in 2002, an organization which seeks to provide oral health care to disadvantaged children with a particular focus on education and prevention of disease.  Dr. Khan is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and the Order of St. John.  He is also a recipient of the 15 year Voluntarism award from the Ministry of Citizenship in the Province of Ontario.  Outside of work Dr. Khan enjoys being a husband and a parent.  His hobbies include playing baseball, playing guitar, jazz music, golfing poorly and playing ice hockey not well at all.

Dr. Khan enjoys working in all areas of dentistry with a particular interest in cosmetic/esthetic, implant, sedation, restorative, orthodontic and surgical dentistry to improve oral health and boost confidence. He also is committed to his profession through his current and past work in; dental research, dental education as a clinical instructor to dental students at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, and as a lecturer both Nationally and Internationally.  He is dedicated to providing oral health care in

Meet Dr. Sohela Vaid, DMD

Dental Surgeon & Chief of Staff

 

Dr. Vaid grew up all over the world.  As the daughter of a physician working for the United Nations World Health Organization, she had the opportunity to grow up in various parts of Asia, The Middle East, Europe and the United States.  She attended the University of Toronto for her undergraduate studies and then was accepted after two years into the University of Saskatchewan Faculty of Dentistry.  She graduated from dental school with her DMD in 2003 and began practicing in the Greater Toronto Area.  She moved to Kingston with her husband in 2007 and has been practicing general dentistry.  She is excited to be starting up her own practice to deliver her vision of oral health care. 

 

Beyond work, Dr. Vaid enjoys being a mom to a little boy & girl and takes care of her third kid Dr. Khan.  Her hobbies include watching Bollywood movies, yoga, shopping, going for long walks and picnics.

Dr. Korcok graduated from the University of Western Ontario Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.  She enjoys all aspects of dentistry.  She loves running and spending time with her husband & two little boys.  

Meet Dr. Michael Moser, DDS

Dental Surgeon

 

Dr. Mike Moser grew up on a family farm in Saskatchewan and was very involved in sports including hockey, baseball and golf.  He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Dental School in 1995.  He served as a dental officer in the Canadian Forces and had an enjoyable and rewarding career with seven different postings and three international deployments during his 25 years in the military. Upon retirement from the CF, he and his family decided to settle down in Kingston and he is very excited to join the excellent oral health care team at Cataraqui Woods Dentistry.  He enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a particular interest in crown and bridge work.  He spends his free time farming, running and taking care of his young family.

Meet Dr. Ranny Sidhu, HBSc, DDS

Dental Surgeon

 

Dr. Ranmeet (Ranny) Sidhu is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Following graduation, Dr. Sidhu gained valuable work experience practicing full ­time in busy clinics located in Thunder Bay and Peterborough.  Dr. Sidhu has received numerous academic awards during his studies, and is a member of the ODA, CDA and RCDSO. Ranny is excited to have joined our dental team and participate in the provision of your oral healthcare.

Meet Tyler Ballantyne, DD

Denturist and Implant Retained Denture Specialist

 

Tyler is originally from St. Catherines, ON.  He graduated from the George Brown Denturism program in 2009.  Tyler has many years of experience in providing patients with denture solutions with and without dental implants.  In his spare time he enjoys walking his dogs, going to the gym and spending time with his wife Kasia, who is also a denturist.  He is very excited to join the team at Cataraqui Woods Dentistry and to have an opportunity to bring a smile to the face of his patients.

Meet Alla Allan, CDA Level II

Chief Operating Officer

 

From a small town of Niagan Russia, Alla had the opportunity to grow up in Ireland and living in Toronto before settling down in Kingston, Ontario. Initially she started her schooling in Finance before accidentally discovering Dental Assisting and loving the chosen career choice.

Being lucky enough to watch and participate in the establishment of Cataraqui Woods Dentistry, Alla is very proud to be a part of this amazing team. You may see Alla working in every part of the clinic, as she loves knowing and understanding every aspect of Dentistry.

When not in the office, you may find her behind her Nikon or editing photos on her iMac, as photography is her passion/talent :) Alla and her husband, Chris are looking forward to the arrival of a baby coming this September 2012! Layla (gentle giant, who is scared of bugs, rottweiller) is also very excited for the new addition to the family.

Meet Cassandra Crawford

Cassie was born and raised in the small hamlet of Colebrook, ON, just north of Kingston. Growing up “in the country” has given Cassie a love of the outdoors, and she spends as much time as she can fishing, hiking, and swimming at the family cottage on Buck Bay. Her and her husband Jake have a loveable Sheppard mix named Remington who loves swimming and romps at the dog park. Cassie graduated with honours from Holy Cross, and was a graduate of the Saint Lawrence College Social Service Worker program. With her extensive administrative skills and her outgoing personality, Cassie is ready to make sure all our patients have a relaxing and enjoyable experience every time they visit the clinic!

 

Meet Laura Clark, CD, CDA Level II, MCpl (Retired)

Senior Dental Assistant

 

Laura was born and raised in Uxbridge, ON until she was 13 years. At that time her family moved to Iqaluit, NT for employment. This is where it started for Laura: “sense of adventure”. She completed her school from grade 8 to grade 12 at G.R.E.C highschool. At that time, she commenced orthodontic treatment on her teeth, by flying to Montreal every few weeks to see her orthodontist. While seated in the dental chair, she observed what the dental assistants were doing, and thought she would like to do this when she finished highschool. In May 1989, she joined the Canadian Forces as a traffic technician for several years. After this experience she became a level II dental assistant with the Canadian Forces until she retired in July 2012. She had the opportunity to travel across the country and to several countries abroad as a member of the CF. She sailed with the USNS Mercy for 8 weeks in the summer of 2008, A United States Naval Service Hospital Ship. She was able to use her dental assisting skills she honed from the CF in the scheduled stops at the countries such as: Timor L’este, Papua New Guinea, and Micornisia.

 

Laura was excited to join the Cataraqui Woods Dentistry team in Mid Aug 2012. She loves having people around her, and enjoys all conversations from everyone that comes to the clinic for a visit.

 

She spends her spare time with family, her two miniature dachshunds “Hobbs” and “Patsy”, hiking, socializing with her many friends, and trying new recipes on her fellow work mates!

 

She is excited about meeting new friends and having lots of adventures in Kingston, and abroad!

Meet Laurie Moser, RDH

Dental Hygienist

 

Laurie is a military wife who's husband was the former Dental Detachment Commander at CFB Kingston.  Prior to arriving at CWD, she was posted to Shilo Manitoba and had completed her academic and clinical training in Winnipeg Manitoba.  She is the proud mother of two little children who can be seen running around the extra-curricular circuit in Kingston.  We are proud to have Laurie as a part of the oral health care team at Cataraqui Woods Dentistry.

Meet Parisa Mirzaei, RDH

Dental Hygienist

 

Parisa graduated with a Dental Hygiene Diploma at CNIH College from Ottawa in 2012. She also has a Dental Assistant diploma from Algonquin College. She was raised in Barrie, ON and worked there for three years before moving to Kingston to join her better half. 

Parisa's attention to detail and her enthusiasm to give the best care are truly appreciated by her patients and the dental team.  Her goal and passion is to give you your best smile and top notch oral health care and oral health education.

When Parisa is not working, she likes to spend time with family and friends.  Parisa is fluent in both English and Farsi.  She loves working out, painting, and traveling around the world.  We are proud to have Parisa as a part of the oral health care team at Cataraqui Woods Dentistry.

Meet Madelynn Pilon, RDH

Madelynn graduated from Belleville's, Maxwell College Dental Hygiene program in 2009. Since then she has worked in several offices from Cobourg to Kingston and has settled in the village of Yarker.  She was born and raised in the Kingston area. Madelynn and her husband could not imagine of a better place to raise their little girl.  When Madelynn is not caring for your smile she is spending time with family, friends and fur babies at their trailer on Little Marble Lake, swimming, fishing, playing horseshoes and four wheeling.  Madelynn looks forward to assisting you with all your oral hygiene needs.

Meet Holly Leveque, CDA Level II

Dental Assistant

 

Holly is a certified level II dental assistant.  She graduated from KLC College in 2010. Holly's first experience in dentistry was in orthodontics working in Kingston assisting Dr. Ed O'Neill.  She continues to work with many of our young patients in general and orthodontic dentistry. 

 

Holly has continued to expand her dental knowledge each year by taking continuing education courses and is a member of the Ontario Dental Assistants Association.  When she is not working Holly enjoys spending time with her son Mayson.

Meet Alina Liakos

Clinical Co-ordinator

 

Alina has been on the team since its inception in 2012.  She brings many years of administrative experience to our front desk team.  She was born in Poland and moved to Canada as a teenager.  She notes that the first few years were hard as she had to learn English and overcome the winters.  She completed her education at Algonquin College in Ottawa as a bookkeeper.  She worked for KPMG as a bookkeeper and then later as a bankruptcy administrator.  Alina moved to Kingston, in 2001 and became the proud owner of a small fish & chips take out restaurant.  After 5 years, she changed fields and took courses to obtain life insurance & mutual fund license.  She had a great time teaching people how to be financially independent.  She looks forward to making your visits as smooth as possible.

Byron is from Ottawa.  He is married to a dental hygienist.  He is the proud father of 2 boys who love to play hockey and keep their dad busy!  Byron is proud to be a part of the supply chain for the provision of oral health care at Cataraqui Woods Dentistry.
