Meet Dr. Waji Khan, BSc, DDS, MBA, MEdDental Surgeon & CEO Cataraqui Woods Healthcare Services
Dr. Khan grew up in Scarborough, Ontario. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Toronto, Trinity College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science with High Distinction in 1997. He then attended The University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry and graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2001. Dr. Khan served as a dental officer in the Canadian Forces from 1998-2007. Dr. Khan began practicing dentistry in Halifax, Nova Scotia with the Canadian Forces. In the CF he learned a lot through mentorship with dental specialists and advanced dental training courses. After a ten year career in the Canadian Forces, he then moved to Kingston with his wife and life partner Dr. Sohela Vaid in 2007 to pursue studies in Medicine and practice Dentistry.
He is a current and past member of; both the Canadian and Ontario Dental Associations, the Canadian and Ontario Medical Associations, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Nova Scotia Dental Association, the Kingston and District Dental Society, the Halifax County Dental Society, Xi Psi Phi Dental Fraternity, United States Army Medical Department Regiment, American Dental Education Association, Nova Scotia Medical Legal Society, Nova Scotia Oral Medicine Study Club.
Dr. Khan is proud to have founded the Khan Foundation for Children in 2002, an organization which seeks to provide oral health care to disadvantaged children with a particular focus on education and prevention of disease. Dr. Khan is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and the Order of St. John. He is also a recipient of the 15 year Voluntarism award from the Ministry of Citizenship in the Province of Ontario. Outside of work Dr. Khan enjoys being a husband and a parent. His hobbies include playing baseball, playing guitar, jazz music, golfing poorly and playing ice hockey not well at all.
Dr. Khan enjoys working in all areas of dentistry with a particular interest in cosmetic/esthetic, implant, sedation, restorative, orthodontic and surgical dentistry to improve oral health and boost confidence. He also is committed to his profession through his current and past work in; dental research, dental education as a clinical instructor to dental students at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, and as a lecturer both Nationally and Internationally. He is dedicated to providing oral health care in a comfortable, welcoming environment, where every patient is a friend. Come in and relax. Meet Dr. Jasminka Korcok, PhD, DDS Dental Surgeon Dr. Korcok graduated from the University of Western Ontario Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry. She loves running and spending time with her husband & two little boys.

Meet Tyler Ballantyne, DD Denturist and Implant Retained Denture Specialist Tyler is originally from St. Catherines, ON. He graduated from the George Brown Denturism program in 2009. Tyler has many years of experience in providing patients with denture solutions with and without dental implants. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his kids, going to the gym and spending time with his wife Allie, who is a massage therapist. He is very excited to be on the team at Cat Woods Dentistry and to have an opportunity to bring a smile to the face of his patients.

Meet Alla Winter, CDA Level II Chief Operating Officer Alla is from a small town called Niagan Russia. Alla had the opportunity to grow up in Ireland and living in Toronto before settling down in Kingston. Initially she started her schooling in Finance before accidentally discovering Dental Assisting and loving her chosen career choice.
Being lucky enough to watch and participate in the establishment of Cat Woods Dentistry, Alla is very proud to be a part of this amazing team. You may see Alla working in every part of the clinic, as she loves knowing and understanding every aspect of Dentistry.

Meet Cassandra Crawford Chief Clinical Co-ordinator Cassie was born and raised in the small hamlet of Colebrook, ON, just north of Kingston. Growing up “in the country” has given Cassie a love of the outdoors, and she spends as much time as she can fishing, hiking, and swimming at the family cottage on Buck Bay. Her and her husband Jake have a loveable Sheppard mix named Odin who loves swimming and romps at the dog park. Cassie graduated with honours from Holy Cross, and was a graduate of the Saint Lawrence College Social Service Worker program. With her extensive administrative skills and her outgoing personality, Cassie is ready to make sure all our patients have a relaxing and enjoyable experience every time they visit the clinic!

Meet Madelynn Pilon, RDH Dental Hygienist Madelynn graduated from Belleville's, Maxwell College Dental Hygiene program in 2009. Since then she has worked in several offices from Cobourg to Kingston and has settled in the village of Yarker. She was born and raised in the Kingston area. Madelynn and her husband could not imagine of a better place to raise their little girl. When Madelynn is not caring for your smile she is spending time with family, friends and fur babies at their trailer on Little Marble Lake, swimming, fishing, playing horseshoes and four wheeling. Madelynn looks forward to assisting you with all your oral hygiene needs.

Meet Jacqueline Akey, RDH Dental Hygienist Jacqui is glad to be back in Kingston, after some time away. Jacqui was born and raised in the Kingston area. She has been a dental hygienist for some time now. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family in the great outdoors.

Meet Cheryl Dermann, CDA Level II Dental Assistant Cheryl joined the Cat Woods Dentistry team in July 2019. She has over 30 years of experience in the dental profession. She loves working with patients in a professional team atmosphere.
Cheryl plays music on the weekends and her summer schedule is filled with traditional country music festivals and shows across Eastern Ontario and Quebec. She loves spending time with family and friends, and traveling with her husband, Pete (especially to Nashville)!

Meet Ana Ribeiro Dental Assistant
Ana is originally from Brazil, she moved to Canada in 2015 looking forward to a better life for her family. Family is her passion. She loves to travel and being able to learn about different cultures and people. She had lived in the United Arab Emirates for 3 years. Over there she had the opportunity to learn and appreciate diversity in community. After work hour she likes to bake and listen to good Brazilian songs, while relaxing. She was a graduate in Law and has always liked to take care of people and recently discovered a new passion as a dental assistant, especially assisting dentists in surgeries. Ana is really happy to be part of Cat Woods Dentistry team.

Meet Alina Liakos Clinical Co-ordinator Alina was born and raised in Poland. She moved to Ottawa as a teenager. She obtained her bookkeeping certificate and worked in the financial sector for 15 years. In 2001 she moved to Kingston and was an owner/operator of a fish and chips restaurant. In 2009 she entered the dental industry as a dental receptionist. She has worked with Dr. Khan for a long time and is proud to be associated with the dental treatment team at Cat Woods Dentistry. In her spare time she likes to cook, travel and read and she really loves her friends and family.
